Observing life through the lens of a camera is even more interesting than merely observing and recounting in words, as you have the opportunity to capture a visual moment which only you will definitively know the story behind. Others will interpret that 1/100th of a second (give or take a fraction) in whichever way it hits them. That's part of the fun and fascination of photography, and I guess the strength of the story told by the capture is what makes a good photographer, even though I wouldn't know anything about that.
