Moss Melbourne Home Store

If you ever need to buy Mud Australia pottery and you’re in Australia, don’t waste time going to the other stockists on her website, go straight to Moss Melbourne (distinctly different and unrelated to Moss in New York!).  Their first shop on Fitzroy in St. Kilda has a small but essential collection, and their newly inaugurated shop on Malvern Road in Hawksburn has an even better selection.  You don’t have to worry about ordering pieces either—they have a great relationship with Shelley Simpson (Mud founder), who attended the inauguration.

That’s why I went to Moss.  But even without the Mud pieces, it’s all sensory overload with just the right dose of each bit of soft colors in the furnishings that have been selected for display.  The soft color palette, seemingly driven by the Mud collections, develops along side crisp whites or ecrus, and wengé-toned wood, many pieces of which can be custom-made.  A large part of the products is nationally and locally produced, or just not Made in China, adding even greater value to Moss’ product range and ultimately your interior should you bring anything home.  If the shop were a furnished apartment for rent, you’d move right in without asking how much.

There’s no way to leave the store without buying at least a little something, whether it’s one of the beautiful pillows, a lovely ‘origami soap’ by Mozi Designs (designed in Melbourne, made in New Zealand) or a locally handmade gift card.

Want an even more scintillating surprise, or to just keep people thinking you have taste?  Get something gift-wrapped.
